Honorable mentions: Bernie Kosar, Clay Matthews Jr.

Bernie Kosar is a clever pick for this list because he was not actually taken in the first round of the NFL draft but rather the first round of the 1985 NFL supplemental draft. This did cause the Browns to give up a first-rounder in the next year, so for these criteria he will be considered a day one pick for Cleveland.

Kosar was a great quarterback for the Cleveland Browns between 1985 and 1993. He is an Ohio guy and played for his home town Browns, something he really wanted to do. He led Cleveland to moderate success including four trips to the playoffs and was immediately a fan favorite.

Linebacker, Clay Matthews Jr. was the Browns first selection in the 1978 draft. He played in Cleveland for 16 seasons and had incredible numbers. He had over 100 tackles in eight of his 16 seasons with the Browns and was the leader of the defense. He was also voted to the Pro Bowl four times in that span.

Another fan favorite, Matthews Jr. has the support of Browns fans everywhere as he is trying to enter the Hall of Fame. Whether he makes the Hall of Fame or not, Matthews was a great Cleveland Brown who is loved by many.
