Conklin’s best fit in the NFL is the Cleveland Browns

Overall, I like Conklin as an offensive tackle. He plays a much-underrated position at right tackle. I would not want to see him switch to left tackle anytime soon, as I think he plays the right side at a high level. For the offense that the Browns are preparing to run, Conklin would fit great into the system.

Spotrac.com has its market value evaluated at $15 million per year, and I have contemplated that price tag. Before watching his film, I did not think that he would be worth that number. After getting to analyze his game, I think that $15 million per year would be a good fit for the Cleveland Browns if they’re willing to spend that cap.

In today’s NFL, it is paramount to have both offensive tackle positions locked down if you want to win. Both teams in the Super Bowl this past season boasted rosters that had a lot invested in the offensive tackle position. The best of the bunch was Chiefs right tackle Mitchell Schwartz, who the Browns let walk a few years prior. They could make up for that mistake by giving Conklin a big payday and bring him into Cleveland.

Conklin may never be an All-Pro offensive tackle again, but if he wants to get back up to that level of performance, he will need an elite offensive line coach to do it. Titans offensive line coach Keith Carter has put together an impressive bunch, and they were my favorite offensive line to watch in 2019. If Conklin is going to look elsewhere, it will hard to find a situation for him better than Tennessee. The Cleveland Browns are one of the only better spots for him, and both parties could benefit greatly if Jack Conklin is wearing orange and brown in 2020.
