Cleveland Browns trade back and load up in 7-round mock draft
By Randy Gurzi
With their first pick in the draft, the Browns took care of their hole at left tackle by adding Ezra Cleveland. As much as that will help them get better, they still need to do something about the other side of the offensive line. Not only can they use an upgrade at right tackle but they also have to get better at right guard.
Chris Hubbard is currently the right tackle after signing a five-year, $37.5 million contract in 2018. He’s far from safe though after struggling mightily in his first two seasons with the Browns.
At guard, they had a rotating door last season as they tried Austin Corbett, Wyatt Teller, and Justin McCray with none of them standing out as long-term starters. As for Corbett, who was the No. 33 overall pick in 2018, he didn’t even finish with Cleveland as they traded him to the Los Angeles Rams once they realized he was over-drafted.
Now in 2020, they hope to add a better option to their line by selecting Louisiana-Lafayette’s Robert Hunt, who came into the Scouting Combine measuring in at 6-foot-5 and 323-pounds. What makes him an ideal pick for Cleveland is that he can play either guard or tackle.
With so many holes on the line, there’s a good chance they will be highly active in free agency and whether they land a guard or tackle could help them decide where to play Hunt. The good news is, he would be an upgrade at either spot on the right side.
