Cleveland Browns: Get to know the new free agents
By Clay Goodwin
Jack Conklin, offensive tackle
Jack Conklin was widely considered one of the best lineman and probably the best right tackle in free agency this offseason. The Browns help address their biggest need with Conklin joining the team.
Cleveland desperately needed a new right and left tackle for the 2020 season. Signing Conklin is a huge start. He can come in and give immediate stability and a major impact to the right side of the offensive line.

Conklin held down RT for the Titans for four years and earned an All-Pro nod his rookie season.
He helped their running back Derrick Henry rush for the rushing title in 2019. He is excellent in run blocking, which is a nice thing to have for this team.
Hopefully, that stays true in Cleveland and he can help free holes for Chubb and Hunt in the backfield and spring them for big gains. The Browns recent tackles have struggled mightily to open gaps for the run game consistently.
Conklin is a little more vulnerable in the passing game, but that can be fixed. He came off of an ACL injury last offseason, so with a whole year since his return, he should be fully healthy.
Even better, the Browns now have one of the best line coaches in the NFL in Bill Callahan.
Jack Conklin gives the Browns a proven, yet young and solid presence at right tackle. This is a huge step in the right direction to fixing the offensive line. If the Browns can land a franchise left tackle at number 10 in the draft, they can be on their way to having a good offensive line.
