Linebacker. Cowboys . Logan Wilson. 3. player. 903.

Linebacker quickly went from arguably one of the best positions on the Browns roster to the worst in one offseason. Losing Joe Schobert and Christian Kirksey hurts the group. Rookies Mack Wilson and Sione Takitaki along with free-agent pickup B.J. Goodson are the best of the bunch on the roster right now, and that should be concerning for Browns’ defensive coordinator Joe Woods.

Mack Wilson showed flashes of his potential during his rookie year, but the fifth-round pick was thrown into the flames pretty early and needs to grow a lot more in his game before he is a solid starter. Drafting Logan Wilson here with the 74th overall pick brings the Browns a player who had a lot of experience in college, as he used all five years of his eligibility.

Wilson will be 24 years old his rookie year, which is rather old for an NFL rookie. He’s older and has been the leader of a team and the leader of a defense at Wyoming, as he was a three-time captain in college. At 6-foot-2 and 241-pounds, he has great size to be an NFL linebacker. He should be NFL ready right off the bat and be a week one starter for whoever drafts him. The biggest knock on former Browns linebacker Joe Schobert was his tackling, and that is arguably Logan Wilson’s biggest strength, as he is a great form tackler.

Logan Wilson not only adds a starting linebacker to the mix for the Browns, but they also add a great person for the locker room. As any athlete or former athlete knows, if someone is a three-time captain, they’re likely a natural-born leader and can gain the respect of their peers pretty quickly. If he is still available for the Browns at the 74th pick, Logan Wilson makes too much sense for a team in desperate need of linebackers.
