Grading the Cleveland Browns 2019 draft picks
This selection gets a C grade. Sione Takitaki saw some action but didn’t look great. There is a lot of room for improvement.

Takitaki was active for 15 games and started one game but he only played ten percent of the total defensive snaps in his rookie season. He was expected to contribute as a rookie because of where he was drafted and the tackling ability he showed in college at BYU.
He lacks the athleticism to make plays in space and had speed adjusting to the speed of the NFL game. Cleveland also didn’t use three linebackers very much so a change in scheme might help him out.
He was a consistent contributor on special teams playing 57 percent of the snaps. He recorded 21 total tackles and only missed one tackle according to profootballreference.com.
Takitaki should get a better chance to play this year with the departure of linebackers Joe Schobert and Christian Kirksey. He has a lot of upside and hopefully, a change in the scheme can turn it into production on the field.
This pick gets a B. Sheldrick Redwine was not amazing but he was thrust into action and played better than expected.
Redwine was active 12 games starting the last five of the year. He played 34 percent of the snaps on special teams and 35 percent of the defensive snaps which is maybe more than people expected at the begging of the season with Morgan Burnett and Damarious Randall on the roster.
But both of them dealt with injuries and Randall had other issues as well that affected his playing time. Redwine stepped in nicely although he did make some rookie mistakes.
He ran a 4.4-second 40-yard dash so he has good speed but he struggled to identify plays sometimes. He’s not the biggest and he struggles to tackle, missing seven tackles. He recorded 42 tackles and two pass breakups in 2019.
Cleveland is not giving Redwine the position but they signed two strong safeties, Joseph and Sendejo, who probably won’t challenge Redwine. They will likely draft somebody to compete with him or bring in a veteran in free agency. It will be interesting to see if he can earn playing time.
