Detroit Lions

Defensive End. Buckeyes . Chase Young. 3. player. 812.

The Detroit Lions will now get the top pass rusher in the draft, as he falls in their lap after an aggressive trade by the Dolphins. The Lions could get the temptation to trade with a team like the Los Angeles Chargers, who will be desperate for a quarterback. The Chargers will also be competing with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are also likely looking to upgrade at quarterback.

Chase Young from Ohio State has too much talent to pass on in this draft and the Lions likely won’t move out of the No. 3 spot. Given the success of recent rookie pass rushers, this decision will be a touch easier. Two of the top rushers have the same last name (Bosa) and played collegiate ball at Ohio State.

Young has proven to be a dual-threat setting the edge in the run game and being able to get to the quarterback, even when double-teamed. His freak athleticism will allow for some mistakes, even at the next level.

New York Giants

879. . Linebacker/Safety. Tigers . Isaiah Simmons. 4. player

The New York Giants are working through a complete rebuild and need help on both sides of the ball. Many experts predict Isaiah Simmons is the most talented player in the draft, but teams value quarterback and pass rushers too much to take him No. 1.

No better scenario could play out for the Giants than to land a dominant defensive player who could perform at an All-Pro level like Derwin James in his rookie campaign. The Giants will be tempted to take one of the top tackles, but will certainly pass for the major talent in Simmons.

Given Simmons’ talent, the tab for the Browns to move up would not make sense. Cleveland wants him, but it would be too costly.
