Pick Analysis. Round 2. JeremyChinn. S. player. Scouting Report. Pick 41. 53

Many teams have jumped aboard the Isaiah Simmons train after blowing up the combine with his size, athleticism, and strength.  However, Brown’s fans can’t forget about a name that will start getting more and more noise as the draft nears.  Jeremy Chinn is a safety from little known Southern Illinois University.  After being a late bloomer in high school, Chinn didn’t receive a single D-1 college offer but was able to show his abilities in the Senior Bowl and at the NFL combine.

At six-foot three-inches tall and 221 pounds, Chinn is another large safety with great ball skills and the ability to play at the line of scrimmage.  If Joe Woods looks to utilize the 4-2-5 scheme, Chinn could be a fantastic fit at the hybrid safety/linebacker position.  Don’t forget, Chinn also ran an impressive 4.45, 40-yard dash.

While Chinn may not be as dynamic as Simmons at this point, there is still a lot of raw talent to be developed.  Man to man coverage skills appear to be his weakness at this point, but Chinn could be protected in the Browns scheme playing close to the line of scrimmage and pulling tight end coverage in one on one situations.

Pick 41 could be aggressive for Chinn but look for his stock to continue to rise going into the draft.  Antoine Winfield Jr. is the name many Browns fans are excited about, but I don’t look for him to make it out of the first round.  Given Chinn’s size and athleticism, he would be a perfect fit for Joe Woods and would likely be a key part of the 2020 team.  The Browns could look to trade back five to ten picks in the second round if they think Chinn will still be on the board and collect additional assets.
