2017 Week 5 vs. New York Jets

To be honest, Garrett didn’t play a whole lot in this game. It was the first game of his rookie season and he was coming off an injury. He didn’t even start the game, which has only happened twice in his career.

But just because he didn’t start couldn’t stop him from having an impact on the first drive for the New York offense. He subbed in on third down and came free up the middle on a stunt. Jets quarterback Josh McCown didn’t stand a chance as Garrett slammed him to the ground for his first career sack.

It wouldn’t even be halftime before he got his second sack, as McCown tried to escape the pocket, but Garrett chased him down and put an end to the Jets two-minute drill.

Those would be his only tackles of the game since he was playing mainly in passing situations as they tried to ease him in. He won a couple of pass rushes but didn’t get his hands on the quarterback. The Jets won a nail-biter, 17-14.

This would be the first of eight games with multiple sacks for Garrett and the only one of his rookie season. This game will always be special because not many players can say they made a sack on their first play.
