Running Backs Advantage: Browns

Yeah, this one is a no-brainer. When comparing the current rosters at each position, the Browns have this one by a landslide. Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt are the best duo of running backs in the NFL and it’s not close. The Broncos are the only other team that could have a duo that compares to the Browns, but even that isn’t nearly as dangerous as the Browns duo.

Chubb and Hunt are both better running backs than Ravens running back Mark Ingram. Considering that Ingram just turned 30-years-old and will be 31-years-old at the end of this season, he likely won’t be getting better.

The Ravens do have one advantage over the Browns in this category. Their fullback, Patrick Ricard, made the Pro Bowl last season and is a massive 6-foot-3 and 311 pounds. That dwarfs Andy Janovich, who is 6-foot-1 and 236 pounds. Size isn’t everything, but for the way that the Ravens use Ricard, it certainly helps. The difference between those two is not enough to make up for the difference between the two teams running back cores.

Former Browns general manager John Dorsey built a great roster for the Browns, including the best NFL backfield that the league has seen in a while. If Hunt sticks around past 2020, he and Chubb have the ability to be one of the all-time great running back duos. Not many teams have realistically had two running backs who could win rushing titles in the NFL. Last season, Stefanski and the Minnesota Vikings ran the football 476 times. I could easily see Chubb and Hunt both getting 200 carries each in the Browns new offense this year.
