How the Cleveland Browns roster matches up against the Ravens so far

Defensive Backs Advantage: Ravens

The Ravens have by far the best secondary in the NFL right now. They have stars all across the board in safety Earl Thomas and cornerbacks Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters. Behind those three they still have good players in Tavon Young, who plays nickel, Jimmy Smith, and strong safety Chuck Clark, who got his first starts last season. The Ravens unit has more talent and chemistry than the Browns unit, which gives them a huge advantage here.

The Browns defensive backfield consists of Denzel Ward, a Pro Bowl cornerback with an incredibly bright future, but not much else at the moment. Cornerback Greedy Williams is young and has potential but struggled at times last season. Veterans Andrew Sendejo and Karl Joseph have been signed to the team, and both of them are good players, but it is unknown how they will perform for the Browns. Terrance Mitchell and Kevin Johnson are both also good backup cornerbacks for the team, but Johnson is also new to the ball club.

This comparison is given to the Ravens because of the chemistry and uber amounts of talent they have at this position. The Browns have some talent and their defensive back unit could develop really well this season, but as of right now it would be blasphemous to say they’re better than the Ravens. Until someone else besides Ward steps up in the Browns secondary and has a Pro Bowl caliber season, the Ravens hold this one pretty firm.
