1. Jadeveon Clowney

The name that won’t go away being tied to the Cleveland Browns is Jadeveon Clowney. The former overall number-one pick has never quite lived up to expectations but has been effective when healthy. Clowney has only played 16 games in one of his six NFL seasons but has played at least 11 games in the last four seasons, including 14 plus in three of those.

I’m not sure I’m sold on Clowney yet, as the Browns would likely release Olivier Vernon if they decide to go with Clowney. Both Clowney and Vernon have been riddled with injuries the last few years, although both effective when they are on the field.

If the Browns continue to pursue and land Clowney, it would likely be a short-term one-year fix.  Clowney will demand $17-18 million per year, and the Browns must consider the money Myles Garrett will demand soon.

This could be a win for the Browns if Clowney signed a one-year deal and stayed healthy. Clowney would be highly motivated for a big year to get one more high dollar contract in the prime of his career.

The Browns did add to their pass rush arsenal this offseason already with the addition of veteran Adrian Clayborn. Clayborn will be the third defensive end that can help give starters Garrett and Vernon (or Clowney) a break when needed.

Andrew Berry has shown he is not afraid to be aggressive and has also been calculated in each signing so far. While the addition of Clowney still seems like a long-shot, bringing in veterans like Bradham and Kline makes total sense.
