Scouting Report. LB. Texas Tech. 3. Pick Analysis. JordynBrooks. player. 874

Another name that may not be a household name yet is Jordyn Brooks from Texas Tech.  Brooks is a linebacker for the Houston, TX area that earned all-conference honors all four years as a starter.  Brooks was a high performer with 108 tackles (20 for loss), and 3 sacks his senior year. Keep in mind this was in just 11 games as he missed time with a shoulder injury.

Brooks may lose some steam on draft boards as he only participated in the forty-yard dash portion of the combine. While he ran well at 4.54, he shared with Draft Wire that he only trained for one week prior to running in Indianapolis. Brooks will also not be healthy until the beginning of the 2020 season after shoulder surgery.

Brooks has been extremely productive in four seasons with the Red Raiders but must improve in pass coverage and better hands to shed blocks. Given his athleticism, it is easy to believe he could improve those skills and become a three-down linebacker in the NFL.

Brooks is slightly shorter at 6-feet tall but carries his 240-pound frame well with broad shoulders. He was infamous for poor games against rival Oklahoma and was often gassed in the fourth quarter because of the effort he gave on each play.

Not only could Brooks come into Cleveland and see the field in week one, but he could also be a young leader along with Mack Wilson on the defense which is desperately needed. Brooks may miss a tackle here or there, but he can get you an explosive tackle for loss when you need it most.

Brooks could easily be a second-round pick, but the belief is the injuries and missing the combine/pro-day could turn teams away. If Brooks is available at pick 74, it would be a tremendous pick for the Browns.

While the Browns certainly need depth at defensive end and linebacker, after addressing offensive tackle and safety in the first two-rounds I see linebacker as a bigger need in the third.

Next. Cleveland Browns seven-round mock draft. dark

Defensive end could come on day three of the draft along with an additional wide receiver and possible cornerback. Stay tuned for round four options later this week.
