7. Pick Analysis. EDGE. TrevisGipson. Tulsa. player. 53. Scouting Report

With their final selection in this 2020 NFL mock draft, the Cleveland Browns look to add depth to their defensive line again. This time, however, they look to the outside EDGE position and select Trevis Gipson out of Tulsa.

Gipson is an extremely raw football player, but he has some upside. He is very strong, has long arms that help him at times, and when he puts everything together in a rep, he can really cause trouble for the opposing offense.

The main issue for Gipson is the lack of consistency in putting everything together at once. He often will have a great get off the line, but will mistime the use of his hands and be blown backward. Other times, he’s slow off the line at the snap of the football and can’t recover, giving up big plays to his side of the field in the gap he was supposed to fill.

However, with some time and consistent coaching, Gipson has the tools to be a role player in the league. He will likely never become an every-down player, but in the seventh round, you don’t find many of those.
