No. 1: Mekhi Becton OT, Louisville

Mekhi Becton in the No. 1 player on this list. He has tons of potential. But that is the No. 1 thing that is said about him. Potential. Potential. Potential. What about right now? Can he step in day one as a top-10 NFL Draft pick and succeed? Potentially. This is the kind of thing that is said about Becton on a regular basis:

Becton was a hidden gem find for Louisville in the 2017 recruiting class. The No. 405 player ranked in that class, Becton chose to play for the Louisville Cardinals over his hometown Virginia Tech Hookies and it has been a wise decision, as he has a chance to become a top-10 draft pick.

He has the highest ceiling, but is considered a boom or bust prospect. The Browns shouldn’t be willing to gamble a top-10 selection on a boom or bust prospect. Cleveland should take more of a sure thing. Andrew Thomas, Jedrick Wills, or Tristan Wirfs are much safer selections for Cleveland.

And further more, all three of them should be ready to play left tackle from day one and succeed in doing so. Maybe its just mistakes of recent Browns past (Cam Erving), but Cleveland shouldn’t be willing to gamble again. Take a blue chip prospect who is safe and will produce for years to come.
