124. . Running Back. Kansas City Chiefs. D'Andre Swift. 32. player

What could the defending Super Bowl Champions Kansas City Chiefs need to add to their already dynamic roster to improve? While the Chiefs are infamous for struggling on defense, that will have to wait one additional round, as they will continue to stack talent behind Patrick Mahomes on the offensive side of the ball.

Teams have been extremely hesitant to draft running backs in the first round, and to this point, none have been taken in 2020.  With J.K. Dobbins, Johnathon Taylor, and D’Andre Swift all being great options, look for the Chiefs to go with the Georgia product Swift to help fill a void at running back.

Damien Williams was great when on the field last season, but injuries are a huge concern as well as not being under contract after the 2020 season.  Swift is an effective zone runner and can be an above-average pass-catcher out of the backfield which will be a perfect fit in Kansas City.

This version of the full first-round mock draft has zero draft day trades which does seem unlikely.  However, let’s not forget this draft is as deep as any with talent and teams can likely find starters even in the third or fourth round. Because clubs draft boards are so deep, teams may not be willing to give up assets to move up. Teams like the Washington Redskins and Houston Texans surely know what it’s like to trade away all their assets and not be able to build in the draft.

While this version is based on team needs with no trades, stay tuned as the final release will come next Thursday will an updated mock draft as everything could be completely different by then.
