52. . Defensive Line. Jacksonville Jaguars. Derrick Brown. 9. player

The Jags will be in a bit of re-build mode after the Nick Foles project quickly crashed and burned in 2019. It’s wild to think the Jaguars played in the AFC Championship game just three years ago.  It could be tempting for the Jaguars to trade back and collect picks, but I suspect the Jags will look to bolster their defense and stay put at no. 9.

The Jaguars can quickly rebuild their defensive line after trading Calais Campbell this offseason with the Auburn defensive lineman, Derrick Brown. With Chase Young at pick no. 2, any team that picks Brown past number four or five is getting a steal. Brown has shown the ability to stop the run and rush the passer from the interior defensive line.

It’s tough to tell if the Jags are set on Gardner Minshew as the franchise quarterback but given the stretch, it would be to take the next available quarterback, Jordan Love, at pick No. 10, the Jags will go with the best available player in Brown.

53. . Offensive Tackle. Cleveland Browns. Andrew Thomas. 10. player

Will the Browns be tempted to trade up for Isaiah Simmons? Likely, but it would not be a good idea because of the tremendous cost and gaping hole the Browns have at left tackle currently. Yes, there are options like Jason Peters or trading for Trent Williams, but both of those come with huge risks. The Browns need a left tackle, and there is a potential All-Pro caliber player available for them to take…  Take HIM.

If Andrew Thomas is around at pick No. 10, the Browns are likely getting the best pure left tackle in the draft. Thomas was a three-year starter for Georgia and was going against top-end talent each week in the SEC. While Thomas didn’t shine as much as Becton or Wirfs at the combine, he is also athletic and would work well in Kevin Stefanski’s zone scheme. Thomas would come in as the day-one starter at tackle.

With the rise in both Wirfs and Becton’s stock, the Browns will likely only be able to choose from two of the four top tackles. In my opinion, the two best options will be available as teams have fallen in love with Wirfs forty-yard dash time and Becton’s size.

Those are important stats, but I’ll take the game film on blocking top SEC pass rushers week in and week out of Thomas and Jedrick Wills Jr. The Browns will pass on Wills only because of his experience at right tackle. Taking the true left tackle and keeping Jack Conklin on the right side just makes too much sense to pass up.
