Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. GrantDelpit. S. player. 817. Round 2. Pick 41

In round two, the Browns land another elite prospect in safety Grant Delpit from LSU. Delpit, outside of Xavier Mckinney, is probably the most sought after safety in this draft class. He has been mocked to fall to the Browns as of late, due to maybe a run on receivers and tackles in the late first round.

Delpit is 6-foot-2 and almost 215 pounds and ran a 4.39 40-yard dash at his pro day. He is a strong athlete who can tackle well from the defensive secondary, as well as make big plays on receivers and tight ends. He is excellent at breaking on the ball and coming downhill to make a play.

He is a three-year player for a great LSU team and had to play tough opponents in the SEC. He never had less than 60 tackles in a season and even had seven sacks the last two years combined as well as 7 interceptions. He is a true playmaker and the Browns would love to have one in their secondary.

Cleveland has struggled mightily in the last several years to cover tight ends. The defense has been poor on third downs and in the red zone largely because of their issues covering opposing tight ends. Delpit can be a guy to help fix that immediately.

Delpit is too good of a prospect to not take at 41. If he falls here, Cleveland will have a new star on their defense.
