2. Antoine Winfield, Jr., Safety

After securing their left tackle of the future in Round 1, the Browns are going to need to turn their attention to the defensive side of the ball for the second round — and possibly further. On that side, they have a couple of needs which include linebacker depth and safety.

At safety, they did make a couple of smart signings in the offseason as Andrew Berry brought in former Raiders first-round pick Karl Joseph and former Minnesota Vikings safety Andrew Sendejo. Both players should start this season but they’re also each on a one-year deal.

Not only that, but the defensive scheme Cleveland is expected to run could feature a lot of 4-2-5 looks which would put an extra safety on the field a lot. This means the Browns need to make sure to find more talent at the position not only for this season but beyond.

One great fit that should be there at 41 is Antoine Winfield, Jr. from Minnesota. The son of a former Pro Bowler, Winfield has NFL bloodlines and is coming off a fantastic season for the Gophers. He does have some medical concerns after missing extensive time in 2017 and 2018 but as long as the team doctors are fine with his health, he’s a player that can shore up their secondary.
