The draft the Cleveland Browns should have, but probably won’t
With everyone discussing what teams will likely do, we take a look at what the Cleveland Browns should have, but probably won’t.
It’s draft week for the Cleveland Browns! The 2020 NFL Draft is one of the most anticipated in recent history. There’s obviously more than one reason for the anticipation, part starvation from sport part, an unprecedented circumstance. The COVID-19 global pandemic has led to all team personnel to be required to work from home.
This means for the first time the draft will be held via teleconference, which is likely to provide a few shake-ups and unintended excitement. However, this is also a draft class stocked full of incredible talent that could be the first to rival the 1989 draft class. For those unfamiliar, the 1989 NFL Draft featured five NFL Hall of Fame inductees. In fact, four of the first five picks in the draft were Hall of Famers, save for notorious bust and steroid cheat Tony Mandarich, who went second overall to the Green Bay Packers.
This year’s talent pool has the opportunity to be just as plentiful, though only time will tell. What we do currently know is that every website and sports news channel that even slightly covers football has multiple versions of mock drafts attempting to predict what teams will do. This year, even more than others, it seems to be near impossible and an almost pointless task.
The last thing the world needs is yet another one of these mock drafts, so we thought it would be fun to take another angle. If we put on the general manager hat, what would a perfect draft look like for the Browns? This is not the draft I expect, but instead how the draft would play out if I was in charge and a few things went our way.
