Where do the Browns stand against the Ravens?

The Browns key to beat the Ravens in 2020 is to stop their revolutionary offense, something few teams did in 2019, and their offense strengthened as the season progressed. The Tennessee Titans figured it out in the playoffs and halted Baltimore 28 to 12.

Cleveland responded in the offseason, signing safeties Karl Joseph and Andrew Sendejo to man the defensive backfield prior to drafting Delpit, giving the Browns an adequate rotation.

Joseph and Sendejo are known for their hitting, but Joseph’s 2019 season ended after nine games and Sendejo has seen moderate production since a stellar 2017 season.

The Browns failed to draft an impact linebacker that could’ve served as a replacement for the departed Joe Schobert. Mack Wilson is solid and B.J. Goodson has seen average production at his previous stop with the New York Giants.

But the third slot is barren and newly drafted Jacob Phillips may not be ready to take on the starting role. This will leave Cleveland’s defense vulnerable when Jackson and the Ravens’ rushing attack which only improved over the offseason get going.

The good news is that defensive end Myles Garrett returns from suspension and it appears the regime will stick with Olivier Vernon, who struggled with injuries in 2019.

With Sheldon Richardson and Larry Ogunjobi returning, it gives the Browns a noticeable strength along the defensive line, especially in the pass rush.

When the line gets a push, they can keep Jackson contained, forcing him to throw before he’s ready which leads to mistakes from the NFL MVP in 2019.
