CLEVELAND, OH – AUGUST 23: Starting quarterback Nick Foles #9 of the Philadelphia Eagles trips and falls to the ground for a safety while under pressure from Myles Garrett #95 of the Cleveland Browns and protection from Stefen Wisniewski #61 during the first half of a preseason game at FirstEnergy Stadium on August 23, 2018 in Cleveland, Ohio. Week 1: Philadelphia Eagles at Cleveland Browns, 1 pm

The best predictor of the future is the past, and the last two times the Browns and Eagles have met it’s been on opening day. No reason to break that streak here. Let us just hope history doesn’t repeat itself in regard to the outcome of the matchup. The Eagles have won five straight games against the Browns including the last two times the teams met on opening day.

More from Dawg Pound Daily

For those hoping the Browns would get an easy opening day game, once again the league office felt otherwise.

Week 2: Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals, 1 pm

The first matchup inside of the AFC North comes early. The Browns will travel to Cincinnati in hopes of setting the tone inside their division and avenging the season-ending loss they suffered at the hands of their in-state rivals last year. The Bengals will be looking to unveil their future and turn over a new leaf with their new franchise quarterback Joe Burrow.

Week 3: Cleveland Browns at New York Jets, Thursday night game

This one feel’s all too familiar. The Jets almost feel like a divisional opponent for how often the two teams face each other. This will be the sixth straight season the two AFC teams have met. Once again, it’s in primetime, and it’s in week three. It is highly doubtful that Sam Darnold comes down with a case of Mononucleosis, so this should be more intriguing than it was a season ago.

Week 4: Las Vegas Raiders at Cleveland Browns, 1pm

The Las Vegas Raiders come to town. As weird as it sounds, it’s true. The Raiders are the lone team from the AFC West that the Browns will play this year. The teams have split their last four matchups, including a memorable (for all the wrong reasons) overtime loss in Oakland in 2018.
