Week 9: Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns, Sunday Night Football

Now things get interesting. The Steelers coming to town at the midway point of the season could either make or break this Browns team. Both teams should have time to forge who they are and what they are about by this point in the season. The Browns need to beat their divisional opponents at home in order to set themselves up for any postseason aspirations.

Week 10:  BYE

The bye week. This is coming at a great time, it’s just late enough in the season to provide a well-timed respite before the Browns head into the home-stretch. Plus, it could prove to be the best bye-week in team history if it comes off the heels of a Browns win over their hated rivals and Myles Garrett avoids suspension at the same time.

Week 11: Houston Texans at Cleveland Browns, 4 pm

Hopefully, the bye-week provided enough time to get rested, recovered, and refocused, because waiting on the other side of it are the Texans. While they have had a curious offseason, to say the least, they are still a formidable foe. The last time these teams met up, the Browns took a decent amount of momentum with them into Houston only to get taken to the proverbial woodshed. Houston is also a team that should be playing with postseason aspirations in mind, and the Browns have lost five straight to the Texans.

Week 12: Cleveland Browns at Dallas Cowboys, Thanksgiving Day

This is a game many have circled on their calendar the moment last season ended. The opportunity to play on Thanksgiving Day isn’t one that comes around often unless you are the Detroit Lions or the Dallas Cowboys. While it would mean a second Thursday game for the Browns, it should be embraced.

This will be a chance to make a statement on a national stage and set the tone for the remaining road games. Plus you will get an additional three days to rest going into week thirteen, which could prove invaluable.

Week 13: Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens, 4 pm

This is where the rubber meets the road. If the Browns want to announce their arrival as AFC North frontrunners, then beating the Ravens in Baltimore is the ultimate test. The Browns were able to do it last year, just before their season fell apart. But that was also early in the season before the Ravens became the powerhouse that they turned in to. This game should put the winner in the driver’s seat going into the final four games.
