Karl Joseph 5-foot-10, 200-pounds — Fifth year

Karl Joseph is a  former 1st round pick signed in free agency during this offseason. Joseph became a 2016 All-Rookie team member in his first season and had a lot of success in his first two seasons but when Gruden took over, his production and games played declined.

In his last two campaigns, he hasn’t completed a full 16 game season. In 2018 he played in 13 games yet started in only eight as he seemed to be in Gruden’s dog house at times. Still, Joseph contributed 48 tackles, two sacks, and an interception that year. He was a solid tackler as he only missed 7.7 percent of tackles attempted at well.

In 2019, he showed some of the same potential from his first two seasons in the NFL. Joseph played in just nine games but had 49 tackles, a forced fumble, and an interception. If he would’ve played a full season, his numbers would surely be higher.

On the downside, his coverage numbers took a hit as he gave up twice as many yards in fewer targets his way. In 2018 he gave up 120 yards whereas in 2019 he gave up 324.

Joseph should be the day one starter come season to start. If he can stay healthy for the majority of the year, he could become a pro bowl caliber player. He has the talent and skills to do so he just will have to be more consistent with coverage.

He will be a welcomed addition to the team and should be able to produce constantly as the season goes on.
