Former Steelers linebacker James Harrison made headlines when he said he received an envelope from Mike Tomlin following his hit on Cleveland Browns receiver Mohammed Massaquoi.

Former Steelers linebacker James Harrison made some startling comments on Barstool’s “Going Deep” podcast with former Steelers offensive lineman Willie Colon on Thursday.

Harrison suggested that his fine was picked up by Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin following the game in which he nearly took former Cleveland Browns receiver Mohammed Massaquoi’s head off.

"“Dude, I’m telling you, 75? And I ain’t gonna lie to you, when that happened, right? the G-est thing Mike Tomlin ever did, he handed me an envelope after that,” Harrison continued. “I ain’t gonna say what, but he handed me an envelope after that.”-James Harrison on Barstool “Going Deep” Podcast, via SI.com"

The New Orleans Saints and coaches Sean Payton and Gregg Williams were fined and suspended for the Bountygate scandal. Just because this came out of Pittsburgh, and the Rooney family may be one of the most respected ownership groups in the NFL does not give the Steelers a free pass in this.

James Harrison has no motive to lie in saying this. This most than likely happened. And Mike Tomlin should be held accountable.

Sean Payton has already suggested that this will be swept under the rug by the NFL. Well, it shouldn’t be and its going to be up to media to keep this on the front stove.

The NFL does not need anymore scandals to clean up so it would not be a shock to see them try to keep this story at bay. But the fact that Harrison nearly decapitated defenseless receiver and it turned into nothing more than a slap on the wrist is unacceptable. And for a superior such as Tomlin to actually reward Harrison for doing so is unforgivable.

The Cleveland media and national media alike need to press the issue. Keep asking questions and keep this story alive so that Mike Tomlin is fully investigated by the NFL.

The NFL already sent the precedent with the New Orleans Saints. Just because the is the Pittsburgh Steelers does not make them exempt.
