1. Mychal Kendricks

This is a name that might sound familiar because he was with the Cleveland Browns back in 2018 when they were supposed to have an elite linebacker corps. Mychal Kendricks was a highly sought-after free agent that offseason and picked the Browns over the Minnesota Vikings ‚— despite his brother being on the Vikings.

Kendricks joined a team that had Joe Schobert, Christian Kirksey, and Jamie Collins — which was an insane amount of talent. Now, none of those players remains and Kendricks actually never played a down for Cleveland.

Many fans surely remember his name was mentioned in an insider trading scheme and the Browns decided to release him right away. Kendricks pled guilty but his sentencing has been postponed repeatedly and is now set for October of this year.

That could be why he has yet to sign with a team but the Seattle Seahawks took a shot on him after he was released by the Browns and they ended up getting a solid player in 2019 (after he played in just four games in 2018). Last year, Kendricks was able to record 71 tackles, three sacks, and an interception.

As long as he is eligible to play, it would make sense to give him a chance. And while he might be upset about the Browns releasing him so quickly, the fact is that was the previous regime, something Andrew Berry can explain away.

Chances are, Kendricks’ sentencing could be postponed again and with the lack of urgency in his case, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him hit with only probation. If that’s the outcome, Cleveland would find themselves with a solid player who would surely be on a team-friendly deal.
