Defensive Backs: B-

The defensive back room has some really talented players with massive ceilings but has some things to prove on the field to be great. This is another group that has a lot of change from last season.

The corners are Greedy Williams and Denzel Ward, who are both very fast players who can be shut down players. Ward was a Pro Bowler in his rookie season in 2018 but had an up and down year last season after he missed four games with a hamstring injury. Williams was a high prospect in the 2019 draft and somehow fell to the Browns in the second round. He also missed four games with a hamstring, which caused a slow start. He did make some good plays in his first season.

Slot corners will be Terrence Mitchell and Kevin Johnson. Johnson was a former first-round pick in 2015 but has had a slow start to his career. He can provide some great depth and talent to the cornerback room, and with Joe Woods at defensive coordinator, he can perhaps get a good fresh start.

The safeties are almost completely different from last year. Karl Joseph and Andrew Sendejo were added in FA and Grant Delpit was added in the draft. 2019 rookie Sheldrick Redwine will also be back this year.

Karl Joseph and Grant Delpit are likely the favorites to start week one. Joseph was a former first-rounder as well and has had some good years in the league. Delpit would have been a top-15 pick had he declared last year, and somehow fell to the Browns in the second round. He was the Jim Thorpe winner for the best DB in college last year. He can develop into a stud.

Overall, the Browns have a stacked roster. They made some huge changes from last year by adding talent and depth across the entire team. Look for the Browns to make a spark this year in the league and push to make the playoffs for the first time since 2002.
