4. Center – Alex Mack

What are the two traits that you need from offensive linemen in the NFL? Toughness and durability, two things that long time center Alex Mack had. In seven seasons with the Browns Mack only missed 11 games with a broken leg during the 2014 season.

Not only was Mack a three-time pro-bowler for the Browns, but he is also likely the highest value pick the Browns have ever taken at number 21 in the 2009 draft. In six of seven years with the Browns Mack never won more than five games and/or finished in last place in the AFC North.

Even with a lack of winning Mack was a true professional his entire tenure with the Browns. The organization thought so highly of Mack that they quickly matched an offer from the Jacksonville Jaguars when Mack was a restricted free agent. The deal was for five years and $42 million.

After the leg injury in 2014, Mack would have another pro-bowl season in 2015, but a 3-13 record that season was enough to make him rip up the contract and look for work elsewhere. In 2016 Mack signed a five-year $45 million contract with the Atlanta Falcons and would eventually play in Super Bowl LI where the Falcons allowed an epic comeback by the New England Patriots.

At times interior offensive lineman can go unnoticed and are unappreciated. Mack is likely a top 10 talent to play in Cleveland since 1999 and definitely deserved to be a winner. While he found success in Atlanta, it would have been great to see him compete for a title in Cleveland.
