2. Adam Gotsis, Defensive Lineman

The Cleveland Browns aren’t in a desperate need of defensive linemen but as we saw last season, that could change in the blink of an eye. Cleveland had a stout starting-four with Myles Garrett, Olivier Vernon, Sheldon Richardson, and Larry Ogunjobi but only one of those players were on the field for all 16 games.

Vernon missed six due to injury whereas Garrett missed six games while Ogunjobi missed one due to a league suspension. With them out of the lineup, the Browns turned to some un-tested players down the stretch which had a negative effect on their defense.

General manager Andrew Berry has done a great job trying to prevent that as he signed Andrew Billings and Adrian Clayborn to provide veteran depth but also added Jordan Elliott in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Should he still be interested in adding more depth, they could kick the tires on someone that worked under Joe Woods in Denver. Adam Gotsis was a second-round pick from Georgia Tech in 2016 and the Australian-born player came into the league rather raw. Still, he had a lot of talent and was starting to put it all together.

In 2018 with Woods serving as his defensive coordinator, Gotsis had his best campaign with 38 tackles and three sacks, with two forced fumbles. He wasn’t as good of a fit in Vic Fangio’s system as his numbers declined greatly in 2019 and then he tore his ACL which could be why no one has signed him yet.

Gotsis might not be available right away but the Browns could add more depth and land a player looking to prove himself on a one-year deal. That in itself could be worth taking a flier on him.
