Goal No. 1: Averaging 15.5 yards per catch

The first goal for Odell Beckham in 2020 for the Browns would be posting 15.5 yards per catch. While Beckham did reportedly express how he wants more targets this upcoming season with Cleveland, as DPD’s Randy Gurzi alluded to, it’s uncertain if that can actually play out.

As Gurzi stressed, though, with how new Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski loves to utilize the run game so often, the key with Beckham will be his efficiency. Gurzi cited how then-Minnesota Vikings wideout Stefon Diggs had 17.9 yards per reception in 2019 with Stefanski calling plays, “compared to 10.0 the year before.”

Taking that tidbit into consideration, with Beckham being one of the NFL’s best wideouts, like Diggs, and Beckham being so gifted after the catch, it’d be meaningful for him to average 15.5-plus yards per catch in 2020.

That would mark a career-high, for context, as his career-high in that metric to this point is 15.1 back in 2015 with the New York Giants. That wouldn’t seem to be unattainable at all, either, as Beckham’s career average is 14.0 yards per catch.

Anyhow, while the target share for Beckham will likely dip from 133 last season, he should seemingly have more of an extra-base hitter-type impact this season, with Stefanski’s approach and a far better offensive line. That should ideally lead to more end zone trips than Beckham’s only four last season, too, and perhaps in the eight-to-nine range.

Next up, the second goal for Beckham relates to having a better connection with Mayfield in the down-to-down sense.
