Cleveland Browns: 3 goals for Odell Beckham Jr. in 2020
By Dan Gilinsky
Goal No. 2: Mayfield having a passer rating of 84.0 when targeting him
For the second goal for Odell Beckham and the Cleveland Browns in 2020, it would be seeing Baker Mayfield owning a rating of 84.0-plus when targeting him. This wouldn’t be nearly the passer rating then-Giants quarterback Eli Manning had when targeting Beckham in 2018 of 91.9, no.
However, factoring in feasibly more deep and/or intermediate shots to Beckham through the air from Mayfield, a suggested rating of 84.0 would indicate Beckham would be way more efficient than he was in 2019.
Last season, Mayfield only had a passer rating of 69.0 when targeting Beckham, and while Mayfield gets plenty of the blame for that, Beckham shouldn’t get out completely scot-free. Granted, one should again probably side with Beckham more so in this sense, but in Year 2 with Mayfield, he and the Browns QB should be on the same page much, much more throughout contests.
With the considerably better offensive line play, too, that should only aid Beckham in getting more separation and for Mayfield to not miss high nearly as often when targeting Beckham in 2019. With Beckham hopefully healthy in 2020, we should see him return to his true game-breaking form of years past with the G Men.
Lastly, the third goal for Beckham for the Browns this upcoming season has to do with his health.
