No. 3: Have a catch rate of right near 80.0 percent

For the third goal for Chubb for 2020, we’ll highlight Chubb’s catch rate. Through his first two seasons for the Browns, Chubb has had catch rates of 69.0 percent and 73.5 percent, respectively.

Next season, it would be a key positive for Chubb to show further improvement in terms of his hands. Chubb frankly is not as gifted of a receiver both in terms of hands, let alone route running as Hunt.

Even with that being the case, it would still pay off more for Chubb and Mayfield for the former to show continued growth as a pass-catcher. That’s in regards to mostly checkdowns and in the screen game, in particular.

Either way, Chubb having a catch rate of right near 80.0 percent would show meaningful improvement in that realm. Chubb has had drop rates of 10.3 percent and 8.2 percent thus far in his two seasons. It’d be good for him to trim that down, ideally, too.

So if Chubb had lets say 43 receptions on 54 targets (he had 49 targets last season), which even with plenty of other weapons, doesn’t seem far-fetched, that’d result in a 79.6 percent catch rate. That’d be right near that suggested 80.0 percent catch rate, and it’d show growth as a receiver, and lead to more opportunities to bust big plays/move the sticks/reach paydirt.

If Chubb meets/surpasses these three 2020 goals, he should be making his second Pro Bowl roster, and hopefully playing a key role in the Browns heading to the postseason. This is if the season can play out and the league can have proper management of the novel coronavirus pandemic/protocols in place, that is, which hopefully will be the case.
