Cornerback (5)

The Browns have two cornerbacks on their roster who came into the NFL with a lot of expectations. They also added a former first-round pick in free agency. That gives them a shot at boasting a very talented secondary.

Denzel Ward

The No. 4 overall pick in 2018 out of Ohio State, Denzel Ward has been a starter since day one for the Browns. He’s already been a Pro Bowler and has shown he can hold up against some of the best in the NFL.

Last year, he struggled some early on due to hamstring injuries. As long as he stays healthy, there’s no reason not to expect Ward to be one of the better corners in the AFC again.

Greedy Williams

Entering the 2019 NFL Draft, LSU cornerback Greedy Williams was widely considered a first-round pick. However, he slid into the second round and the Browns traded up to secure his services. Williams, like Ward, struggled early on as he battled hamstring injuries and his rookie campaign wasn’t what he hoped it would be.

Entering his second season, Williams will again be favored to be the starter opposite Ward and he now has a bit of a chip on his shoulder following the less than par rookie campaign. A motivated Williams could be a great thing for Cleveland’s defense.

Kevin Johnson

In free agency, the Browns added Kevin Johnson who was a former first-round pick of the Houston Texans. He’s a solid technician and has great length but injuries have slowed him tremendously. Johnson comes in on a one-year deal and is hoping to continue the great work he did in 2019 with the Buffalo Bills.

Terrance Mitchell

One of the players added by John Dorsey in the 2018 offseason, Terrance Mitchell has been quite the find. He’s a physical cornerback who has proven he can start when needed. Having him as the fourth corner makes this feel like an insanely deep group.

A.J. Green

Undrafted out of Oklahoma State, A.J. Green was given a pretty large guarantee by the Browns as they lured him away from many other teams that were interested in his services. There’s a really good chance he makes this team, and the money they threw his way shows they expect him to.
