Cleveland Browns: 4 Offensive linemen to sign as Covid-19 opt out replacements
By Randy Gurzi
4. Sean Harlow, Guard
Back in 2017, the Atlanta Falcons were in a position the Cleveland Browns know very well — desperate for a right guard. They lost Chris Chester who had just retired but elected not to go for an early pick — or add a big free agent. Instead, they let 2016 sixth-round pick Wes Schweitzer battle it out with fourth-round pick Sean Harlow.
Schweitzer won that battle and started all 16 games but he wasn’t exactly setting the world on fire with his play. Still, he held off the Oregon State product who the team felt had an outside shot of winning that job eventually.
Harlow never did that though and was released in 2018 and added to the Indianapolis Colts practice squad. He rejoined Atlante later that season and remained with them until the end of 2019. Now, Jarlow is still looking for a job and the Browns might be a good landing spot.
Coming out of Oregon State, Harlow was praised for his run blocking and in Atlanta, they were a team that liked to throw the ball more often than run. As for Cleveland, this is a run-first team now with Kevin Stefanski in control and a powerful run-blocker such as Harlow could surprise them. He might not have any chance of taking over for Wyat Teller but he could become a solid depth piece, which is what they were hoping to find with one of the three guards who opted out.
