1. Baker is a changed man

Nothing has stood out more this offseason more than the silence of Baker Mayfield. The often brash and outspoken quarterback of the Cleveland Browns was humbled by a frustrating sophomore campaign and even admitted while speaking to the media about how the losing got to him.

Mayfield decided to do something about is as he re-dedicated himself to his craft and decided to let his work do the talking. On Friday, that continued as he went out and executed well in the new offense and then showed a more subdued version of himself when speaking with the media.

What stood out most about his words was when he spoke on how doubt crept in during the roller-coaster ride he was on over the past two seasons.

Mayfield also addressed his stance on the national anthem. Earlier in the offseason, he said he would “absolutely” kneel in protest of social injustice and there were those who didn’t like his stance — saying it disrespected members of the military.

When speaking with reporters, the Cleveland quarterback said he has no regrets while calling it a “human right’s issue” that he still believes in. He also said this while reiterated his support for the military.

Entering his third season in the NFL, Mayfield is already on his fourth head coach which is less than ideal. Thankfully, he seems as though he has really matured which will help him handle the most recent change.

Of course, it helps that Kevin Stefanski was picked with Mayfield in mind. His offense is tailor-made for Mayfield and the young quarterback is ready to not only take the teaching of his new coach but he’s also emerging as a true leader.
