4. Preston Brown

When it comes to experience playing the inside linebacker position, there aren’t many free agents with more experience than Preston Brown available. Brown has predominantly played inside linebacker or middle linebacker his entire career. He would be able to come in and step right into the role that Mack Wilson has had to temporarily depart from due to injury.

While Brown’s past two seasons have had some injuries, as he has not played in more than 10 games in either of the years, he is probably the best available player for the Browns to sign. With 77 career starts underneath his belt so far in his 6-year career, he would be able to provide the playing experience that the Cleveland Browns desperately need.

His contract would likely be a team-friendly deal, considering if he wants to play in the NFL this season, his options are currently slim. He also knows what it’s like to play in the AFC North, and specifically against Lamar Jackson.

If the Browns want to win the division, they’re going to need to secure both wins against the Baltimore Ravens. Brown should have an idea of what to expect when playing against Lamar Jackson, and he can still play at a high enough level to contribute to slowing Lamar down. Even though Preston Brown is a Cincinnati native, he could easily find a second home in the city of Cleveland, at least for the upcoming season.
