Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know

Injuries have been a major issue across the NFL and the Cleveland Browns have been no exception — especially on defense. They lost several starters, including Grant Delpit who won’t be returning due to a torn Achilles.

Also out through the first two weeks were linebacker Mack Wilson and cornerbacks Greedy Williams and Kevin Johnson. For Wilson, he suffered a hyperextended knee while Williams was dealing with a shoulder injury. As for Johnson, he had a lacerated liver which sounds simply painful.

The good news, however, is that Wilson, Williams, and Johnson are all getting closer to returning as they were back at practice on Monday. While not all were full participants, their return is huge for defensive coordinator Joe Woods who has been trying to get things done with a patch-work defense.

That story and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

3 key Browns defensive players return to practice — Andrew Gribble, Cleveland.com

"“The Browns are healing up on the defensive side of the ball.”“After weeks on the sidelines — including the team’s first two games of the season — CB Greedy Williams, LB Mack Wilson and CB Kevin Johnson were back on the field for Monday’s practice.”"

Cleveland has struggled on defense but any team would if they had to deal with the number of injuries the Browns have. Thankfully, the return to health should push them in the right direction as Joe Woods tries to get them back on track.

What’s next for the Cleveland Browns? Previewing the Washington Football Team and how they match up — Ellis L. Williams, Cleveland.com

"“Outside of that, Washington doesn’t do much well. Washington, unlike Cleveland, can tolerate inconsistent quarterback play. Haskins started nine games last season. Former Washington coach Jay Gruden was fired after an 0-5 start in 2019. So Haskins’ first full season with a system is happening now.”"

Hearing that they “don’t do much well” should help Cleveland fans get excited about this upcoming game. Washington has some talented players, especially a few former Buckeyes, but overall there are a lot of holes. As long as the Browns don’t beat themselves, they should be 2-1.

Mack Wilson thought his knee injury was season-ending and ‘karma’ for giving Nick Chubb a concussion — Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

"“It was really tough,” Wilson, who returned to practice Monday after less than five weeks, said on a video conference. “For me to make a bad decision with tackling Chubb when we shouldn’t be tackling, I felt like it was karma, honestly, with me going back the next day and getting hurt.”"

There were some fans who were frustrated with Wilson after the Nick Chubb tackle but his knee injury was nothing more than bad luck. The former Alabama star is turning into a leader on the Cleveland defense and his return will be a huge boost for them.
