3. Wills lives up to the hype

Yes, I mention above guys who are expected to be great shouldn’t be on this list. Yes, Jedrick Wills had high expectations being picked No. 10 in the 2020 draft. However, you can’t just assume young players are going to step into the league and be stars.

Not only was Wills going from college to the NFL, but he was also switching from right tackle to left tackle. While it is a very similar position, when you throw in a shortened offseason and no preseason, it would not have been crazy for the Browns to say he wasn’t ready to start Week 1.

Not only has Wills started both games, but he also has yet to look like a rookie. He has shown tremendous pass sets vs. speed rushers and has flashed tremendous athleticism on zone running plays. Baker Mayfield has specified multiple times that he feels completely confident in the pocket with this offensive line which is a tremendous feat.

Wills has looked like a stud through two games, and he is only going to get better.  I’m not sure if it’s possible, but the coach of the year should go to Browns offensive line coach Bill Callahan. Not only has he molded Wills quickly, but he also took a line that was horrid in pass protection and made them a top-five unit in the league through two weeks.

Wills will have his biggest test yet vs. Montez Sweat in week three, but don’t look for there to be any struggles. A strong game plan with a heavy dose of Chubb will help slow the pass rush down. A game with no sacks given up vs. Washington will solidify Wills as one of the best rookies in the 2020 draft.
