Antonio Gibson, Running Back

The Washington Football Team, like most NFL teams, employs a running back by committee approach. However, as anyone who has watched Washington’s first two games could tell you, that will not be their approach for much longer. Washington rookie Antonio Gibson is easily the most talented of the bunch.

The third-round draft choice out of the University of Memphis has demonstrated some elite running back characteristics in his limited action. Gibson’s jump cuts and vision could give any would be tackler absolute fits. However, that ability is not only used in space as Gibson has shown to be elusive even in traffic as well.

Each week his snap count and rushing attempts have increased, and with what Gibson is putting on tape his role is only going to grow. The bright side for the Browns is that, so far, Gibson has not been much of a factor in the passing game. He has only been targeted two times in each of the first two games, and his three receptions have only resulted in five total yards.

Gibson is a raw talent at this point and will only get more dangerous with experience. Luckily for the Browns, they are facing Gibson in Week three while he is still in the starting blocks and not later in the season when he will be off to the races.
