Discipline

Discipline is not something gets instilled during the season. Discipline is a trait that his embedded during training camp through intentional messaging, accountability, and consequences. However, discipline is only showcased during the season. The Browns have had minimal issues with discipline through the first four games of the season.

Cleveland has been called for four false starts, one unnecessary roughness penalty, zero roughing the passers, and zero unsportsmanlike penalties. Not that anyone wants to rehash the 2019 Browns, but the difference in terms of discipline from this season to last season is staggering. There are still things that need to be cleaned up, but the Browns are middle of the pack in with 6.8 penalties per game.

Game Planning

We will never know about the total game plan back in Week 1, because the Browns were out of the game by the middle of the second quarter. But in three of the first four weeks, coach Stefanski’s game plans have been outstanding. Stefanski is open about how much he leans on his assistants to build the game plan, namely Bill Callahan.

Stefanski credits Callahan with putting together the plan for the running game for each opponent. When the buck starts and stops with you, being able to trust in your assistants is crucial. Delegation is the key to building cohesion and chemistry within a coaching staff.
