Game: Cleveland Browns (4-1) at Pittsburgh Steelers (4-0)
Summary: The Cleveland Browns are 4-1 for the first time since 1994. I’m sure by the time you read this, you’ve heard this stat a thousand times by every major sports media outlet. But whether or not it’s been overstated, it’s huge for a team that’s come off a few years of high expectations and much disappointment in those seasons.
This year’s Cleveland Browns team is different though. In recent years, when the team would face adversity, they’d often fold and find a way to lose. This season, however, in games where the Browns have faced adversity, they’ve toughened up and found a way to win.
After defeating a high powered offense in the Dallas Cowboys and one of the best defenses in the league in the Indianapolis Colts, the Browns head to Pittsburgh to face the hated division rival Steelers, whose defense may be even better than the one they faced in Cleveland in Week 5 of the Colts.
Pittsburgh has allowed less than 300 total rushing yards this season through four games, and while they haven’t faced a rushing attack quite like they will in Kareem Hunt and the Browns, that’s still an impressive stat. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has also had a good bounce-back season, throwing for 10 touchdowns and only one interception so far this season. Against a Browns defense that has struggled at times, especially against the pass, he could have another successful day.
While I do believe the Browns will have success against a tough Steelers defense, cracking 100 yards rushing, I think a few untimely turnovers by Baker Mayfield end up being the Browns undoing in a rather close ballgame. If this game were in Cleveland, it would probably go in Cleveland’s favor, but Pittsburgh steals a win, and the Browns fall to 4-2 as they approach the midway point of the season.
Prediction: Steelers 34, Browns 31
