Cleveland Browns land quarterback in 7-round 2021 NFL Mock Draft

Richard LeCounte is a free safety with good instincts and a nose for the football. He may not be a great athlete, but he’s smart and it’s hard to argue with his production in the SEC – six pass breakups and five interceptions combined in 2018 and 2019, and he’s already picked off three passes in 2020. He’s the kind of guy you can leave in single-high and trust him to do his job.
Even if he’s not starting over Grant Delpit, he’ll be good depth, and with how much nickel and dime the Browns plan on playing, he’ll get his reps. Think of him as Andrew Sendejo’s replacement.
The third 2019 opt-out in this mock, Kary Vincent has been very up-and-down over the past two seasons, but his speed and versatility make him a smart gamble at this point. He picked off four passes in 2019, including one against Oklahoma in the College Football Playoff.
Vincent primarily plays slot corner, where the Browns need a long-term solution, but he also has plenty of experience rotating up to deep safety. Woods wants safeties that can cover like corners, so Vincent fits the bill. He could easily run in the 4.3s at the NFL Combine, so that speed would come in handy on special teams, which all of these mid-to-late round picks will need to participate in.
The Browns are apparently required to bring in at least two LSU players per offseason now, so assuming one isn’t added through free agency, Vincent helps meet that quota.
