Cleveland Browns: One trade target from all other 31 teams
Josh Jackson was drafted by the Packers in 2018, and following a strong rookie campaign where he tallied 49 tackles and had 10 pass breakups, the future looked bright. However, Jackson now sees himself buried on the depth chart in Green Bay.
Not seeing the field due to the level of play of cornerbacks Jaire Alexander and Kevin King, Josh Jackson may be better suited in a new uniform. With the Cleveland Browns not having the availability they desired in recently drafted cornerback Greedy Williams, Jackson may be a good fit for them via trade.
The best thing about Jackson is that he still has another year on his contract, which will run through until after the 2021 season. Since he can’t seem to find playing time in Green Bay, he may be available for a rather inexpensive price. It definitely wouldn’t hurt for the Browns to add depth at the cornerback position, and Josh Jackson could be a perfect fit for just that.
Justin Reid has made himself into one of the best hybrid safeties in the NFL. The 2018 third-round pick has played at an extremely high level since entering the league, and with the Texans announcing that all but four of their players are available via trade, Reid could very well be on the move.
It makes perfect sense for a trade between the Cleveland Browns and the Houston Texans to happen for Reid, too. For one, the safety position is the biggest weakness on the Browns right now. Defensive coordinator Joe Woods wants to run a certain style of defense, and a strong secondary is needed. Adding a player like Reid would no doubt help in that position.
The Texans, on the other hand, have almost no draft capital for the foreseeable future. Former coach Bill O’Brien practically emptied the cupboards, but those cupboards need to be refilled and reloaded for future success. Cleveland should have no problem giving up a decent draft pick for someone like Justin Reid, who can be the face of their defense for a long time.
The Indianapolis Colts have an embarrassment of riches at the defensive tackle position, and that is likely the only reason that Tyquan Lewis makes this list as potential trade targets for the Browns.
For one, it’s hard to get snaps when you play the same position as Deforest Buckner. Lewis was a fringe roster cut not too long ago, but has played well when given the opportunity. While he’s likely going to get more opportunity as the season advances in Indianapolis, he would get even more chances to see the field if he were to be acquired by the Cleveland Browns.
The Browns have gotten major numbers from pass rusher Myles Garrett, but the remainder of their defensive line has left something to be desired so far this season. Tyquan Lewis could be an underrated addition by Cleveland that would help put them over the top as they continue to try to build a winning franchise.
