5 Studs and Duds for the Cleveland Browns in Week 8 defeat
By Greg Newland
Stud: Ronnie Harrison, Safety
There wasn’t much to be excited about on Sunday, but one player that continues to impress is safety Ronnie Harrison, who the Browns traded for right before the season. Harrison didn’t play many snaps until the last few weeks as he was learning the system, but after starts the last two weeks he has cemented himself as a dominating force in the secondary.
Harrison has proven he can play the dime nickel position that Woods wants to run. It’s just unfortunate the Browns don’t have any linebackers for the type of system. Harrison was all over the field on Sunday making plays in the run game and pass defense.
One tremendous play in the first half could have been a pick-six where he snuck near the line of scrimmage without Derek Carr seeing and the ball just bounced off his hands. While it was a great play and forced a missed field goal, a defense that struggles as much as the Browns must capitalize on all turnover opportunities.
Harrison was brought into the box for much of the second half to try and slow down the run. While the team wasn’t that successful, Harrison did make a few nice plays right at the line of scrimmage. The interior of the defense couldn’t make any adjustments and continued to get ran over all day.
Fans are still hopeful to see Joseph and Harrison on the field at the same time. Let’s hope that is an adjustment made over the bye.
