3 Linebackers Cleveland Browns should trade for
By Randy Gurzi
3. Kyler Fackrell, New York Giants
One linebacker who could be a fit with the Browns is Kyler Fackrell of the New York Giants. A fifth-year veteran, Fackrell spent the first four seasons of his career with the Green Bay Packers and played in a hybrid role as a linebacker and pass-rusher.
He had 111 tackles and 16.5 sacks in those four seasons, 10.5 of which came in 2018. Now on a one-year deal with the Giants, he could be a player who might be moved for the right price. New York is a team headed in the wrong direction and they’ve already started to unload some players — shipping off Markus Golden for a sixth-round pick.
Should they be willing to get something in exchange for Fackrell, Cleveland would be a great landing spot as he would not only be an improvement over their current linebackers, but he could also help get after the quarterback. Our own Cory Kinnan already floated the idea of landing Fackrell, who he says would be a short-term solution at an affordable price.
"“The cost to get Fackrell to Cleveland would not be much more than a future day-three pick after they already shipped off Golden for a future sixth round pick. At that cost, the Browns may be able to find value in Fackrell, even if he is just a short term solution to a long-term problem on the defensive side of the ball in Cleveland.” — Kinnan, DPD"
New York will likely lose the veteran in free agency, so adding a late-round pick would be a win for them.
