3 Linebackers Cleveland Browns should trade for
By Randy Gurzi
1. Foyesade Oluokun, Atlanta Falcons
Foyesade Oluokun nearly defeated the Dallas Cowboys all by himself in Week 2. The former sixth-round pick out of Yale was a man possessed on that day, recording five tackles and forcing three fumbles in the first half. Unfortunately for him, he was injured in the game and had to head to the locker room.
With Oluokun unable to return, the Cowboys offense found its rhythm and ended up pulling off a miraculous win. While the story of the day was how they snatched the victory away from Atlanta, the more interesting development was how the defense for the Falcons fell apart without Oluokun.
Now in his third season, he already has 207 career tackles with five forced fumbles and an interception. This season, he’s on pace for his best campaign as a pro with 54 tackles after seven games. And while that could mean the Falcons might want to keep him as a centerpiece in their defense, it could also be the perfect time for them to cash in and get something in return as they plan for a rebuild in 2021.
Atlanta is a team ready to unload talent and while they said players such as Matt Ryan and Julio Jones won’t be moved, they could get rid of players such as Oluokun and load up on mid-round picks.
On Cleveland, Oluokun would instantly be their best linebacker. His instincts as a tackler are phenomenal and something the Browns sorely need.
If there is any move to be made ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, this seems to be the one.
