1. Donovan Peoples-Jones, Wide Receiver

Heading into the Cleveland Browns Week 7 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, rookie Donovan Peoples-Jones had just one target with no receptions on the season. His only contribution to that point was a return man, having 12 kickoff and four punt returns entering that game.

Then, he was asked to step up as the Browns lost Odell Beckham, Jr. to a torn ACL on the opening drive. With OBJ out and Cleveland needing to put points up to keep pace with Joe Burrow and the Bengals, Peoples-Jones was able to see the field a lot and that led to him getting three passes thrown his way.

Peoples-Jones caught all three of those for 56 yards, with his best one being his final catch. With just 16 seconds to go, and trailing 34-31, Baker Mayfield looked toward the rookie who hauled in a 24-yard touchdown which led to the win. It was a great route and a perfect catch — which included DPJ being able to get his feet down on the side of the end zone.

There’s no better way to record a first touchdown catch but Peoples-Jones has yet to catch another pass. In Week 9, he was a forgotten man as he never saw one pass come his way. Of course, it was an ugly game for the entire offense but the Browns should be trying to figure out how to make sure he doesn’t go another game without getting a pass thrown his way.

Without Beckham, they need all the playmakers they can get, and the rookie proved he can be just that for them.
