WR J.J. Arcega-Whiteside

Rookie first-round pick Jalen Reagor has missed more games than he’s played this season, and in his absence, Travis Fulgham has become Carson Wentz’s top target. A sixth-round selection by the Detroit Lions in 2019, Fulgham has been very consistent this season. He could easily have a big game against the Browns poor secondary, but so could Arcega-Whiteside, who has yet to do much of anything in the NFL.

Arcega-Whiteside is a 6-3, 225-pound power forward who should be an elite red-zone threat, but he has all of 12 catches through 23 NFL games. He’s been unable to create much separation because of his subpar agility and athleticism.

The Browns have been unable to cover tight ends and bigger receivers for what seems like forever, and if the Cleveland weather is anything like it’s been over the past two games, the short passing game over the middle of the field is going to be leaned on. JJAW is the kind of player who could randomly have a career game against the Browns and then do nothing the rest of the season. The Eagles aren’t exactly a passing juggernaut, but the Las Vegas Raiders weren’t a great rushing team heading into Week 8 and they ran the ball down the Browns throats.

With this defense, anything is possible. And to make matters worse, Myles Garrett was kept home from practice on Wednesday due to an illness. If he can’t go, Wentz should have all day to throw, and could gravitate towards his big-bodied targets like Fulgham, Arcega-Whiteside, and Dallas Goedert.

Editors Note: Arecega-Whiteside has been placed on the COVID-19 reserve list. He most likely will miss this game due to a positive test. Philly’s already thin receiving corps took a hit.
