Week 12 Cleveland Browns playoff update
By Greg Newland
Cleveland Browns
After winning another tough game in the rain vs. the Eagles on Sunday, the Browns sit at 7-3 and are in full control of their playoff hopes. Their next six games are against the Jaguars, Titans, Ravens, Giants, Jets, and Steelers. Three of these games should be easy wins, and three of them will be extremely difficult.
If the Browns take care of the Jags, Giants, and Jets (they don’t deserve to be in the playoffs if they don’t), it really comes down to week 12 games. It’s important that the Ravens and Titans both not win their games. And whichever team loses, the Browns must beat in their matchup. The likeliest outcome is the Steelers defeating the Ravens and the Browns Monday Night matchup on 12/14 becoming the biggest game of the season for both teams.
The other thing that could be crucial, the Steelers could have the number one seed locked up before the week 17 matchup. Now with only one team getting a bye in 2020, there is less and less of a chance of a team pulling starters the final week. But, with the Steelers at 10-0 and the Chiefs at 9-1, there is a chance the Steelers will have nothing to play for and may at least pull Ben Roethlisberger. That could free up another very winnable game as the Browns close out the year.
Bottom line is, the Browns need to continue to win games to make the playoffs. And as you watch football this Thanksgiving weekend, make sure you are rooting for the Colts and Steelers to strengthen the Brown’s chances of squeezing in the 2020 playoffs.
