Stud: Jarvis Landry

Jarvis Landry has been the No. 1 receiver for the Browns since joining them ahead of 2018 and they needed him more than ever since losing Odell Beckham, Jr. to a torn ACL. Unfortunately, Landry has also been dealing with health concerns of his own. He had hip surgery in the offseason, and it was apparent that he wasn’t at full speed early on. Once he did start to get back to himself, a rib injury occurred.

Throw in the terrible weather in the past three games and it feels like an eternity since we have seen the No. 80 we’re used to watching on Sundays. That changed against Jacksonville as he was huge in their first scoring drive. Landry opened the five-play drive up with a 21-yard catch and run and then finished it off with a back-shoulder touchdown from five yards out.

He wasn’t done there either. Landry was frequently targeted throughout the game and completely took over a drive right before the half. Landry had a 23-yard reception on 2nd-and-1 and then hauled in a 15-yarder on 3rd-and-6 to move them inside the red zone. The drive ended with an Austin Hooper touchdown and Landry was a huge reason why. Following a few quiet games, he entered the half with 91 yards on five receptions and a touchdown — and it could have easily been two scores had Mayfield thrown him an accurate pass in the end zone on their drive that ended with a short field goal.

Landry ended with eight catches for 143 yards on 11 targets. Not only was it a throwback game for him, but it was also his first 100-yard game since Week 11 of 2019 against Miami. Cleveland can use more of this from Landry going forward, so hopefully, this will be a sign of things to come.
